Inspired Art this Thursday, April 12, 2012!

Please join us this Thursday, April 12th for our third annual Inspired Art event at Artwork Network in the Santa Fe Art District, with Honorary Chair James Mejia. Tickets can be purchased online for $30 or six tickets for the price of five ($150) and ticket price includes admission into the silent auction, hors d’oeuvres, beverages, and poetry performance by America SCORES Denver poet-athletes.

All proceeds from the event and ticket sales will benefit programming at America SCORES Denver, so please invite your family, friends, art enthusiasts, and community members!

America SCORES’ staff gets excited with each artist’s entry! It’s been great fun to hear poetry selections and we look forward to seeing the creations inspired by those poems.  Please consider joining the project if you are just discovering our site!

Inspired Art 2012 is Only 2 Months Away!

Thanks to artists and volunteers who are contacting America SCORES Denver with interest and enthusiasm.  We are happy to have returning and new artists join our project!

Please take a few minutes to visit the Poetry page and read the words of inspiration written by children in our after-school program.  If one “speaks” to you louder than another please select it by filling out an Artist Agreement and join other local artists donating original work to be auctioned April 12, 2012 at Artwork Network, 878 Santa Fe Drive.

The 3rd annual Inspired Art event is scheduled for April 12, 2012 at Artwork Network on Santa Fe Drive.  We have updated forms and information, and most importantly, NEW POETRY fresh from the fall season at America SCORES Denver sites!

Our poet-athletes wrote some fun, sad, acrostic, story-like, and even silly poetry to inspire artists and share with their classmates and communities. Please check the Poetry page to read the additions for 2012 and Artists’ Corner to identify your selections if you plan to create something for our event this year!

Artist Reception…What a Success!

In preparation for the March 10th Inspired Art Auction America SCORES Denver and Think 360 Arts hosted an artist reception Thursday February 24th.

Over 30 artists stopped by the SCORES office in West Denver to drop off their work, meet the Inspired Art staff, and mingle with other participating artists.

The Inspired Arts staff was excited to recognize so many artists continuing their involvement in the Inspired Project, and it was equally as exciting to meet all the new artist for 2011.

There will be just under 50 pieces of art at the 2011 Inspired Art Auction on March 10th. The proceeds from the auction will benefit young Denver Public Schools students that participate in the America SCORES Denver and Think 360 Arts programs.

Quote from Megan E. Evans regarding Inspired Art Project:

“I remember being a young person writing poetry, creating artworks, trying to start out in the world as a person, figuring out my talents. What we did as youth: it was important stuff. It still is!

Fostering new beginnings, encouraging artistic talent, giving hope, inspiring new ideas… what a better way to encourage a young person. And what a better way to involve adults in creating as well. I’m so excited about this project, and have loved having the inspiration for a new art piece.

I don’t know Jorge, the author of my selected poem (#33: “Writing”), but this young eight-year-old has certainly brought out some life in his words, and even in his poem’s simplicity, it has brought out a renewed color vibrance in my work.”
